Space Mates was created in 48 hours for Global Game Jam 2016 where we worked with the given theme of “Ritual”. Our completed game was an alien mating ritual where two players complete to match the movements of their potential mate in hope of wooing them.
Developed by a team of five, I was the lead artist where I pitched an idea to use clay as our main artistic material. I helped design and model characters which I then created a series of animations for. I also helped to produce the user interface graphics and promotional material. I designed a pipeline whereby characters were stop motion animated in front of a blue screen then optimised for use as a digital animation assets. This allowed a unique art style to be developed while being able to rapidly produce assets in a short time frame.
